News / More drug seizures

A FIFTY two year old man was arrested in Lerwick on Thursday after police found him in possession of drugs thought to be heroin with an estimated street value of £700.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Meanwhile a 32 year old man is in police custody in Aberdeen after being arrested on Thursday when attempting to board the ferry to Shetland while in possession of drugs again thought to be heroin with a street value of £3,000.

Chief inspector Lindsay Tulloch said: “We will keep arresting people for drugs offences as long as they persist.

“The arrest of the man in Aberdeen last night demonstrates we have the ability to stop drugs reaching Shetland but we depend on the communities help.

“Please report anyone you know or suspect to be involved in taking drugs to Shetland and we will take action to stop it”
