News / Ferry delays
AS SHETLAND is likely to escape the worst of Tuesday’s stormy weather, north boats operator Serco NorthLink has said both its ferries will operate.
The Hrossey, due to leave Aberdeen for Kirkwall and Lerwick at 5 pm, will arrive in Orkney up to two hours behind schedule and, depending on sea conditions, is expected to reach Lerwick by mid-morning.
The Hjaltland, scheduled to Lerwick for Aberdeen at 7pm, will stay in port until the early hours of Wednesday to avoid the worst of the weather.
Check-in will remain at the normal times between 5 and 6.30pm.
The passenger ferry is expected to arrive in Aberdeen in the late afternoon of Wednesday.
Judging by this severe weather warning from the Met Office, Shetland is the only place in the UK where there is no amber warning in place.
