News / Graham to head local police force
NEWLY promoted police chief inspector Eddie Graham has been appointed as the new area commander for Shetland.
Originally from Fife, the Graham has been serving in Shetland for many years, first as sergeant between 1999 and 2003, and then as inspector since 2010.
The reshuffle at the top of the local police force also sees the return of Lindsay Tulloch, originally from Bressay, who has been promoted to the rank of inspector.
Outgoing chief inspector Angus MacInnes has now moved to the Scottish Borders to undertake his role as superintendent.
A police spokesman said that their combined depth of local knowledge, experience of operational policing and appreciation of island life, would allow them to serve the community well and deal successfully with any local issues that may occur.
Chief inspector Graham said: “Throughout my service in the isles, I have always been impressed by the Shetland community’s resilience when it comes to dealing with major incidents or weather events.
“I am confident that with public support for policing in Shetland we will continue to ensure that these islands remain one of the safest places to live in Scotland.”
