News / Ship turns back
AS GALES continue to batter Shetland, one oil supply vessel has been forced back into port after a huge wave smashed the windows on its bridge.
The 1,444 tonne Vos Iona left Lerwick on Thursday evening and was 65 mile south east of Sumburgh with 15 people on board when it got into trouble at around 2am.
As well as breaking windows the wave damaged electrical and communications equipment on board the 56 metre vessel, but no one was injured.
The master turned the vessel around and she returned into port around 9.30am on Friday morning.
