News / Drivers warned to take “extreme caution”
HEAVY rainfall throughout Shetland on Wednesday evening has prompted the police to issue a warning to all drivers to be vigilant and drive with “extreme caution”.
A statement issued at 6.15pm said that many roads in the isles are affected by surface water due to persistent heavy rain showers, but all roads remain open.
A spokesman said: “Drivers are urged to drive with extreme caution, keep a sufficient distance from preceding vehicles and be aware of the potential for aquaplaning.
