THE HEAD teacher of Dunrossness primary School has made it to the finals of the Scottish Education Awards 2012.
Lesley Simpson has been shortlisted for the coveted ‘Headteacher of the Year Award’, after being recognised for “her outstanding leadership and direction” that has made her school “a successful learning environment”.
Shetland Islands Council director of children’s services Helen Budge said: “She leads a very innovative school and works very closely with the parents and the community for the benefit of the children in both primary and pre-school.”
A specially selected panel of judges will select winners in each of the 17 category at an awards ceremony at Hilton Hotel, Glasgow on 12 June 2012.
