A COLLECTION of recordings made by Shetland poet Rhoda Bulter in 1976 were released at the weekend for the first time,
The collection, released by Croft Records and entitled Caald Clods an Tinder, was unearthed in 2006 when the original reel to reel recordings of the late poet’s work were sent to the family by Bernd Schulze, who originally released the late poet’s work on record and cassette in the late 1970s.
The Bulter family made a request to Bernd Schulze of Schulze McLaren Ltd for the original master recordings to be sent to them for re-mastering and digitizing for release on CD.
John Bulter said: “We were expecting to get the master recordings for Bide a start wi’ Me and My Kinda Füll, but when we opened the consignment there were three master tapes.
The original two albums were there along with a third master, entitled Caald Clods an
Tinder. We didn’t know that there had been a third album recorded.
The album was intended as the final part of a trilogy of recordings produced by Schulze McLaren Ltd but due to unforeseen circumstances, the recordings were never released.
Knowledge of the album’s existence was lost until the tapes were sent to the Bulter family, four years ago.
Marvin Smith of Croft Records said: “Croft Records is delighted to be able to release these previously unheard recordings and finally make them available to the public.
“It was a great surprise to find out about these ‘lost’ recordings and it’s exciting to get the opportunity to finally complete the originally envisaged trilogy of albums.”
