Council / Alterations to speed limits proposed in Brae and Voe

A REDUCED speed limit at the south entrance to Brae has been proposed.

Shetland Islands Council has opened a consultation on reducing the speed limit on the A970 on the approach to the village from the current 40mph to 30mph.

There are also plans to alter the speed limits on the A968 road in Voe.

The proposal is to maintain the 30mph limit which runs from the junction with the A970 past the hall, but to introduce a 40mph stretch beyond this.

Currently the speed limit goes from 30mph to 60mph.

It comes not long after a reduced 40mph speed limit was introduced on the main A970 road through Voe following representation from the community.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed orders for Brae and Voe must send an objection in writing to the SIC’s infrastructure services department by 12 June. More information can be found here.
