Affordable housing?

Glad to see the contract finally awarded for the housing development behind Anderson High School, and to a local contractor.

Work to get underway on first phase of Staneyhill housing in June

However, I am a little confused as, according to the figures quoted, the costs are in excess of £300,000 for each single bedroomed house and presumably this does not include the groundworks which by now must be well into the millions.

How can this possibly be construed as affordable housing?
