News / Tribute paid to ‘loving husband and father’ after Trondra death

A CYCLIST who died in a tragic collision in Trondra on Saturday night has been named as Victor James Duncan.

The 51-year old was hit by a black Ford Ranger at around 10pm on the B9074 road, with police immediately called to the scene.

Emergency services attended and Duncan was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have named 51-year old Victor James Duncan as the victim of a crash in Trondra.

His family has paid tribute to him as a loving husband and father. They have requested their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

The road was closed to allow for crash investigations to be carried out and was fully reopened at around 5.15pm on Sunday 22 March.

Sergeant Ewan Calder said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Duncan and we continue to offer support to them.

“I’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while enquiries were carried out. We appreciate this is the main route to and from the south west of the island and there was significant disruption with the closure.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and I’d ask anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, to come forward.”

Anyone who can help should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3319 of 21 March.
