Letters / A bit rich

After having a look at the Lib Dem leaflet that has been issued, I can’t help but feel there was a lacking in proofreading due to some information that is misleading. Quite surprising since they have a paid a campaign manager for their operations.

In their leaflet, they talk about council leader Emma Macdonald negotiating “a new deal with the Scottish Government for ferries”.

I think former councillor Steven Coutts will find this interesting as it was he who negotiated “full and fair funding” for this deal in 2021, at a time when he was council leader. Although Emma was deputy leader, negotiations would have been a team effort from the council’s senior staff.

I would also think councillor Robbie McGregor and his legendary contacts would have had a hand in these negotiations with successful lobbying.

At the cost of £200,000 over four years, you would think the SIC’s political advisors would have seen these embarrassing errors.

Perhaps Emma and the Lib Dems need reminding that it’s a bit rich for them to take credit for SNP ministers giving Shetland the money for the ferries.
