THE MET Office has warned “persistent snow” could cause travel disruption on New Year’s Eve.

Shetland has been placed under a yellow weather warning for 31 December, from 5am until midnight.

The Met Office said some roads were likely to be affected, with longer journey times a probability.

Gusts of just over 50mph are being forecast on Tuesday, with snow and freezing temperatures also predicted.
