A WOMAN has donated a hair-raising amount to charity after growing her hair for almost two years.

Lynn Halcrow decided she wanted to give her hair to the Little Princess Trust – which provides free wigs to children and young people with cancer – after hearing of others doing the same.

She started growing her hair in early 2023, and also began fundraising for the charity – which relies on donations to help make and provide the free wigs.

Halcrow held a tea and home bakes sale at the Cunningsburgh Hall this summer, raising a total of £690.25 for the Little Princess Trust.

Through her personal assistant Dawn Siegel, Halcrow – who uses a wheelchair – organised to have her hair cut at the Envi hairdressers in Lerwick earlier this month.

Owner Jolene Tindall not only gave the hair cut for free as her contribution to the trust, but also placed a donation bucket at Envi’s counter to encourage more people to donate.

That raised an extra £97.76, taking Halcrow’s grand fundraising total to £788.01.
