Court / Released on bail
A MAN who faces eight charges at Lerwick Sheriff Court including assaulting police officers has been ordered not to enter Shetland unless for visits related to his case.
Richard Seadon, whose address was given in court as East Thurso, appeared from custody via videolink on Tuesday.
This was because the 50-year-old failed to appear for a previous hearing, with a warrant then issued.
Defence agent Tommy Allan told court that this was down to a “breakdown in communication” – but he said the matter was now resolved.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie had no objection to Allan’s request for bail but requested a special condition prohibiting Seadon from entering Shetland unless for a court appearance or legal consultation.
Honorary sheriff Willie Shannon imposed the special condition when releasing Seadon on bail.
He pleaded not guilty to eight charges relating to alleged offences on 14 April in Lerwick, including three counts of assaulting a police officer, driving while disqualified and failing to undertake a breath test.
The case was given a trial date of 21 December, with an intermediate diet on 22 November.
