A FAMILY from Vidlin have chalked up over one million steps in March to remember a beloved pet and raise money for Cats Protection.
Mandy Robertson lost her much-loved Maine coon Mowgli unexpectedly at the beginning of the year and decided to run a step challenge in his memory.
Mandy was joined by her sister Louise Manson and Shamim Robertson and they comfortably exceeded their target by Thursday (31 March).
After covering a combined 1.4 million steps – a distance of around 625 miles – they have so far raised £340 for the feline charity.
The online fundraising page is still open, and people can donate through this link.

Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 540 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
