WORK on the transmission link project at Kergord was suspended today as a mark of respect after a contractor passed away in hospital on the mainland.

Work is due to recommence tomorrow (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for SSEN Transmission said: “We can confirm that a contractor working on the Shetland transmission project has sadly passed away following a short period in hospital on the mainland.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the individual’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
