SUMBURGH airport was flying the Norwegian flag on Monday morning as the new Bergen to Shetland air service commenced.

The 12-seater Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft, operated by Bergen Air Transport, touched down at Sumburgh slightly behind its scheduled arrival time of 9.10am.

The aircraft had five paying passengers, a Norwegian journalist and the company’s ground operations manager and general manager on board.

Bergen Air Transport’s business development manager Tom Roll said: “We have received a lot of positive feed-back since we officially launched the service and we have bookings several months ahead.”

The airline will connect Shetland with the Norwegian coastal city twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.

Flights can be booked at www.bergenair.co.uk
