News / NFU president banned
THE SHETLAND branch president of the National Farmers Union for Scotland has been banned from driving for one year and fine £500 after admitting being more than twice the legal alcohol limit driving his car on Friday.
Cecil Eunson, of Griesta Farm, Tingwall, spent three nights in the cells at Lerwick police station before appearing before honorary sheriff Arnold Duncan on Monday afternoon.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard that the 61 year old was stopped on the B9074 in Tingwall near his home.
Eunson was told that he could reduce his ban by three months if he completed an alcohol awareness course.
