Drunken nuisance threatened with ASBO
AN UNEMPLOYED Lerwick labourer has been threatened with an anti social behaviour order after annoying neighbours with his noisy television.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard on Thursday that police were called twice to the home of Michael Goodlad, at 40 Hoofields, on 22 July and 3 August to tell him to turn his TV down.
Each time the 19 year old refused, and on the second occasion he started repeatedly kicking the television.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie described Goodlad as a drunken menace and an immature show off who had allowed his home to be used as a party venue for his young friends.
Mr Mackenzie said that he had already been evicted from one address for similar complaints, adding: “He is well known to the police for this kind of anti social behaviour. I think the time has come to give the community some protection from him.”
On Thursday Goodlad pled guilty to both counts of causing annoyance to neighbours as well as threatening or abusive behaviour.
He also admitted acting aggressively on 9 July when he frightened another man and chased him into the path of police officers on Lerwick’s Gilbertson Road when he refused to come to a party.
Deferring sentence for one month for reports, Sheriff Graeme Napier said Goodlad was the type of nuisance neighbour he would not wish to live beside. He also confiscated the television.
