Hit the nail on the head

Jonathan, you have hit the nail on the head (Sabotage of local public interests, SN, 17 May 13).

Not once have “Sustainable” Shetland come forward with an alternative to how Shetland Charitable Trust should protect and increase our funds for future generations, for the charities, the elderly and recreational facilities we take for granted. 

My understanding of the report from the government is that they are reviewing the whole process. There is a chance due to the abundance and efficiency wind can provide up here that charges from the use of a subsea cable will be lowered to a competitive price.

My understanding of the statement from VE is that they require this price to come down.

“Sustainable” Shetland have cherry picked the two and created a doomsday scenario that all has been lost.

Fact is that Shetland Charitable Trust can now sit on this investment until the government makes projects like this available to the United Kingdom’s national grid.

So like many investments they don’t just produce over night, they mature over the years. In 10 to 20 years this could be worth a fortune without the charitable trust spending another pound.

If they continue to gather data, they could have hard proof that they have prime real estate for a wind farm.

You have to be in it to win it.
