Scalloway pool – a small ask

Like most folk in the wider Scalloway area we used the pool a lot, especially when our family were young and learning to swim. It was a most accessible and encouraging environment for children and adults who felt challenged in a larger and noisier space.

This great community asset was, and should, continue to be available for central Shetland complimenting the Lerwick facilities.

A 5,000 plus signature petition to keep it open surely cannot be so lightly dismissed.

Given the resources available to the Shetland community, the funds needed to keep the pool open is a small ask.

We simply cannot understand why it is not possible for the SRT, SCT and SIC to address the community concerns and find a solution.
