Letters / Convener guilty of nothing but oversight
So, one of our ‘esteemed’ councillors wants Ms Manson to resign over the issue of unpaid tax?
Were this councillor to avail himself of the facts, he would perhaps realise that Ms Manson is guilty of nothing other than an oversight, being jointly responsible for ensuring the Mid Brae Inn was being run in a financially correct and accountable manner.
I have known of Andrea Manson since first coming to Shetland 40 years ago. I know her to be kind, approachable and to have the interests of Shetland at heart. Can any of our councillors sit in judgement?
In being open and apologising for her misdemeanour, Andrea has shown her distress and upset over the whole sorry tale.
I rarely listen to Radio Shetland, the occasions when I do will be even less since learning their ‘journalists’ took to the street, seeking the opinions of shoppers on Ms Manson’s suitability as convener.
Such parochial and small-minded journalism holds no interest to me.
Before I am accused of being a friend or relative of Andrea Manson, I am merely a neighbour who has witnessed her kindness and compassion to the vulnerable in our community. The exact attributes I like to see in council officials.
