Transport / Yell Sound down to single vessel after fault found on Daggri
THE YELL Sound ferry service is set to drop to a single vessel over the coming days after a fault was discovered on one of the Daggri’s control modules.
A single vessel service will operate on Thursday and Friday, running to the shift vessel timetable, after the fault was found.
Shetland Islands Council said a replacement part had been sourced and they were now awaiting delivery before the Daggri could return to service.
As a result, the following sailings have been cancelled on the Ulsta to Toft route: 7.45am, 8.45am, 9.45am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.55pm, 3pm, 4pm and 4.55pm.
On the Toft to Ulsta route, the following services have been cancelled: 8.15am, 9.15am, 10.45am, 11.45am, 12.45pm, 2.30pm, 3.25pm, 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
It comes with the Daggri set to go into drydock on 2 March for four weeks, along with the Hendra.
Delays in getting the ferry Geira back from drydock have meant the Bluemull Sound is also running a single vessel operation until at least Thursday 19 February.
It adds further pressure to the stretched ferry service, with concerns raised last month about the urgent need for a new ferry.
Passengers booked on the newly cancelled sailings are asked to contact the SIC booking office on 01595 745804 to rebook.
