News / ‘Time for us to move on’ – Maryfield owners reduce asking price in hope of quick sale

The Maryfield House Hotel in Bressay.

A POPULAR Bressay hotel, bar and restaurant has had its asking price reduced as its owners seek a quick sale.

The Maryfield House Hotel, which has seven bedrooms, a bar, games room, restaurant and whisky room, has now been listed on the market for £300,000.

Nelly Petrova, who owns the business alongside James Thomas, said that retirement plans and ongoing health issues had led them to reduce the asking price.

“It’s been a wonderful chapter running Maryfield House Hotel, but it’s time for us to move on and let someone else take it forward,” she told Shetland News.

She said the Maryfield was a “well-established and much-loved part of the local community”, and they felt this was “an important opportunity” for the right person to take it on.

The business was taken over by the pair in late 2016, and then listed for sale in 2022 for offers in the region of £400,000.

However they have now reduced that to £300,000 as they seek a new owner.

Rightmove has listed the property for sale, with Prime Property Auctions marketing the hotel.

It called it a “rare opportunity to purchase an exceptional and thriving” hotel, restaurant and bar, with “additional room for development”.
