A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following an incident in Lerwick which has left part of Ladies Drive closed to traffic.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.20pm on Monday, 28 April, 2025 we were made aware of concern for a woman in Ladies Drive, Lerwick.

“She was taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full set of circumstances.”

It is understood that the woman was cycling a bicycle at the time.

Bus company R. Robertson & Son said on social media that Ladies Drive is currently closed from the Old North Road junction towards Staney Hill Hall and Hoofields.

While the road is closed the town service will be unable to serve stops at Staney Hill Hall and Hoofields. Passengers are advised to use the Old North Road stop instead.
