News / One person dies in serious Walls fire

A PERSON has died following the fire in Walls last night (Monday), police have now confirmed.

Six fire appliances were called to the scene of a two-storey house fire in Walls.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it was alerted at around 11.10pm.

Firefighters were met by a fire within the two-storey home, a spokesperson said.

Police Scotland said it attended the scene at around 11.45pm, and that one person was pronounced dead.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire and enquiries are ongoing,” it added.

A police spokesperson had previously said a man had been taken to hospital following the fire, but they have now clarified this was not the case.
