High tides amid flood warning from SEPA

THE HIGH tide has been causing some coastal flooding today (Monday).

It comes as Shetland remains under a flood warning from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

The warning is in place for Monday and Tuesday. SEPA said there is a risk of coastal flooding around times of high water due to a combination of high tides, surge and waves.

The Lerwick Port Authority website suggests there is a high tide in the town today of 2.23m.

Meanwhile due to the forecasted weather and tidal conditions, the NorthLink ferry Hrossey will depart Aberdeen at the earlier time of 6pm tonight.
