THE FIRST episode from the next series of the Shetland crime drama will be broadcast early next month.

The programme will air on BBC One on Wednesday 1 November at 9pm.

It will see the debut of Ashley Jensen in the lead role after the departure of Douglas Henshall.

The BBC said “the acclaimed murder-mystery series is back for a thrilling, new six-part tale, as Met detective Ruth Calder [Jensen] returns to the Shetland Isles on the trail of a vulnerable witness, teaming up with Tosh on a case that will test their fragile, new partnership”.

The BBC has released more details of the storyline, which can be found here.
