Education / Strike action to impact Shetland schools
PARENTS are beginning to be informed about school closures in Shetland next week when more strike action takes place.
Among those confirmed so far to close next week is the Anderson High School, and the Bell’s Brae and Scalloway primary departments.
A spokesperson for Shetland Islands Council said a full list of closures will be published tomorrow (Friday).
Strike action is taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week across Scotland by members of three teaching unions.
Primaries are set to be affected on Tuesday, with secondaries impacted on the Wednesday.
It comes after most schools and nurseries in Shetland were closed in November during a one-day strike by members of the EIS union in an ongoing national dispute over pay.
