Emergency services / Coastguard helicopter airlifts man off charter boat

A MAN has been taken to hospital in Lerwick after falling ill on board a charter boat off the island of Yell on Monday afternoon.

The Sumburgh based search and rescue helicopter was tasked to airlift the man just before lunchtime on Monday.

The charter boat had meanwhile come into near Cullivoe pier, from where the man was airlifted.

He was then flown to the Clickimin landing site, in Lerwick, where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance to take him to the Gilbert Bain Hospital.
