Community / Fundraising competition to find ‘Shetland’s fastest man and woman’

Last year's Shetland fastest man and woman event took place at the Co-op carpark - but this time around it is at the Clickimin.

A FUNDRAISING event will be held in Lerwick this weekend giving people the chance to land the title of Shetland’s fastest man or woman.

An exercise bike will be set up at the Clickimin Leisure Centre foyer on Saturday (10 September) from 9.30am to 3.30pm for the Rotary Club challenge.

People can pay £1 to see how quickly they can cycle a distance of 500 metres, with all proceeds going to the charity Prostate Scotland. Competitors can have as many goes as they like.

The prizes for the winners will be a cycling jersey given by Prostate Scotland and gift cards donated by the Lerwick Co-op store.

The event was held last year and it saw Jonathan Cheatle and Layla Todd crowned as the winners.
