Arts / Community orchestra set for first rehearsal in year and a half

Photo: Malcolm Younger

THE SHETLAND Community Orchestra is set to start rehearsing again after being unable to meet since March last year due to Covid restrictions.

The orchestra is made up of players across all age groups and from all over Shetland and it provides an opportunity to join together, socialise and play music.

The orchestra group is now offering four informal sessions at Mareel, on Sunday afternoons, between 31 October and 21 November.

Although there will be no concert, it is described as an “exciting opportunity for musicians from across Shetland to play together again”.

The selection of music will be accessible, and the committee hopes that people will come along and take part.

There is a minimum level requirement of grade four. There is no membership or fees required, and everyone is welcome.
