District heating shutdown

LARGE areas of Lerwick’s district heating scheme will be shut down Friday (24 February) between 10am and 2pm due to urgent maintenance.

The operator of the scheme, Shetland Heat Energy and Power (SHEAP), said that during this period there will be no heating or hot water available to customers.

The areas affected are: all of Sound, Brae Court, Bruce Crescent, Burgess Street, Burgh Road, Clickimin Road, Gilbertson Road, Goodlad Crescent, Haldane Burgess Crescent, Leslie Road, Montfield, North Lochside, Robertson Crescent, Russell Crescent, Sletts Park, Sletts Road, South Lochside, South Road and West Sletts Park.

A spokeswoman for the company apologised for the inconvenience and added that “every endeavour will be made to keep the shut-down as short as possible.”
