Letters / Researching family history
I am researching my several times great grandfather Magnus Winwick (Wynwick) who was born in the late 1700’s. He served in the Royal Artillery from 1808 to 1816 when he was discharged (age 25).
They give his birthplace as “MUCE” but I can find no modern equivalent place name. The nearest I can find is MOUSA. (Magnus drowned in later life).
Have I got the right place (MOUSA) or is there another area on Shetland called MUCE. (Other records have him born on Unst).
I hope you can assist me. Please contact petrea_wendy@hotmail.com
