News / They fixed the tree lights

To the palpable relief of some islanders, the Christmas tree was redecorated on Sunday afternoon. Photo: Shetland News.

A CHRISTMAS tree in Lerwick town centre which had been derided as the worst-looking in the country has been redecorated following complaints from islanders about its appearance.

Local business group Living Lerwick erected the tree last weekend, only for islanders to take to social media to describe it as a “godless eyesore”.

The organisation explained earlier this week that it had a limited amount of time to decorate the tree first time around in time for a pre-Christmas town centre parade and light switch-on.
