News / Power cut in south end

NEARLY two thousand households in Shetland’s south mainland lost power for around 40 minutes overnight on Monday.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) said a fault on its overhead network saw supply to 1,736 customers in the area cut off at 1.35am. Power was restored by 2.13am.

An SSE spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank everyone for their patience while our engineers worked to restore supplies.”
