Letters / He could be on his own
On Wednesday, Alistair Carmichael’s Liberal Democrat MPs failed to vote against the bedroom tax in the House of Commons – despite promising to do so a few months ago.
The coalition government defeated a Labour motion to abolish it by a reduced majority of 32, winning the vote 298 to 266.
For some pictures of Carmichael’s colleague Duncan Smith pishing himself with laughter during the debate, see http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/watch-iain-duncan-smith-laugh-4829195
I suppose Alistair Carmichael might hang on in Orkney and Shetland in 2015, owing to his promotion of the Crofters Act – but he could be on his own.
