News / Dental director
NHS SHETLAND has appointed a new clinical director to its most senior dental post following a national recruitment campaign.
Raymond Cross, who has “extensive” experience in managing dental services, worked as a clinical director in south London from 1994 to 2013.
He will take charge of a dental service which, particularly in Lerwick, has not had its troubles to seek in recent years. Many town patients have had to spend years on a waiting list before being able to access regular check-up appointments.
The post had been vacant since the start of the year, and Cross will begin work in Shetland in June.
He said: “I am really excited to be able to come to Shetland and use my experience to help shape and develop the service.”
Director of community health and social care Simon Bokor-Ingram said he was “delighted” with the appointment, adding that Cross would bring “a wealth of experience” to the health board.
