Letters / Skerries petition
A message fae a sooth moother:
Please take a minute to promote this petition, it is to save the secondary school on Out Skerries. My grandmother (the girl in the middle with her hands crossed) came from there.
I spent my childhood holidays on the island and most of the current residents are relatives of the family. Shetland Island Council want to close the school to save £74k per annum, but the community wants to save it, because they know that it’s closure could signal the terminal decline of the future of the community.
My folks and my sister live in Lerwick, so I know what its like to be part of a community, and this closure threatens to hasten the decline in the small islands populations.
Please promote the petition to save Out Skerries Secondary at https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/shetland-islands-council-save-out-skerries-secondary-school
