Letters / Mistaken impression
Michael Mackay (What about the rest of us?; SN 17 July 13) appears to be under the mistaken impression that I had complained about having been delayed at Kirkwall Airport for a couple of hours yesterday (Tuesday) due to low cloud at Sumburgh.
For his benefit the full text of my post on the social media site Twitter is as follows: “Starting to stack up @ Kirkwall as Shetland fog-bound. 2x Saab 340, Dornier 328, Islander & Bond Super-Puma.”
This was accompanied by the picture published by The Shetland News showing all but the Loganair Islander on the apron at Kirkwall Airport.
I’d be the first to acknowledge the plight of those Aberdeen passengers who were bussed to Dundee for an onward flight to Shetland which was subsequently diverted to Kirkwall.
However, you may judge for yourself whether or not my Twitter post amounts to a complaint about my own situation.

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
Your contribution will ensure Shetland News can: -
- Bring you the headlines as they happen;
