Far from being embraced

I must congratulate Rosa Steppanova for her excellent reply to Lee Goodlad’s letter (Calculator broken after all, SN, 21 May 13). There are only a couple of things I could add to this.

I would remind Lee that at the council meeting which approved the VE Planning application in 2010, only nine out of 21 eligible councillors voted against the advice of their own planning officials and in favour of the VE application – so no ringing majority of support in the council chamber either.

Following the farce of this meeting Dr Wills publicly wrote:

‘If the Holyrood civil servants who are now handling this application do their job properly they will take into account the size and volume of objections and hold a public inquiry’.

Even he realises that this project is far from being embraced by the majority.
