Letters / A boon to Shetland
We recently relocated from Shetland to the South of Spain. Had it been a complete house move, then it would have been simple to organise through Clark & Rose, however we were only taking personal effects.
We tried the excellent website www.loadup.co.uk, however although many of the quotes were reasonable from Aberdeen, when Shetland was put into the equation, the price quoted rocketed, in some cases to near double.
Luckily someone suggested the Post Office, and with the usual professional service from our local postmistress, Mrs Greta Hartley, all our goods and chattels were safely transported from Hamnavoe to Torre del Mar, arriving right on time, and with no damage. The boxes were even taken to the Post Office free of charge by a good friend, Lesley Newlands, so it couldn’t have been easier.
The Post Office is a boon to Shetland, being far more reliable than that nebulous organisation –‘other courier’ so beloved of Ebay.
The Post Office never let me down, and none of our parcels ever arrived at someone else’s house or indeed went missing altogether. It would be a sad day should the Post Office ever disappear in its present form.
sincerely
Bill Hall
