Letters / Don’t close Viking
Just read that the Viking Bus Station could close and I’m gutted (Viking bus station to close; SN 27.1.13).
The Viking is THE best bus station EVER and I’ve spent many an happy hour sat there waiting for buses and using the Internet. I love the sofas, lockers and toilets too.
Ours was closed years ago and we haven’t even got a toilet or anything anymore. It’s a massive loss to the town and there’s nowhere to hibernate from the weather.
I’ve noticed that a lot of goods and parcels are collected from there too to head north on the Yell/Unst bus providing a vital service to the remote northern services.
If the Viking closes where will travellers wait for buses and leave their luggage?
Please don’t close the Viking!!!
