News / Free fares

HIGHLAND Council leader Michael Foxley has called on the Scottish government to give every Scot a free return ticket to one of Scotland’s islands.

Dr Foxley has written to First Minister Alex Salmond suggesting it would be the perfect way to end the Year of Scotland’s Islands celebration in April.

The council leader said he is shocked at the number of Scots who have never visited either the isles, and suggests it would be good to target secondary school pupils aged 14 and up who have a sense of adventure.
