Drugs found on Lerwick trawler

POLICE enquiries are ongoing after suspected Class A drugs with an estimated street value of £2,000 were found on board the Lerwick registered whitefish trawler Opportune, berthed at Kirkwall harbour, in Orkney.

Police officers raided the vessel on Saturday as part of “an intelligence led” operation.

A number of men were questioned but no one has been arrested and no charges have been brought.

The vessel was allowed to leave Orkney for Shetland on Sunday morning.
