Scalloway youth centre to mark 30th anniversary with open day

THE SCALLOWAY Youth and Community Centre is celebrating its 30th anniversary today (Sunday).

On offer from 1pm to 3pm today will be activities including a bouncy castle, a lucky dip, hot dogs, ice cream and refreshments.

There will also be a family quiz night from 6pm to 8pm.

The building opened as a youth centre in November 1996.

The name was later changed to the Scalloway Youth and Community Centre to reflect a wider range of user groups.

The centre is now owned and managed by trustees of a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).

The building features a games hall, a cafe/seating area, a games room and a music room.
