Community / Bakehouse planned by Bigton bakery team

THE HUGELY popular Bigton Bakery team have said they are going to build a “bakehouse” in the South Mainland.

In a video message today (Friday), Gus Dow and Mat Roberts said they were “laying the foundation of a new chapter”.

The bakery offers homemade bread, buns and cakes from Hymhus in Bigton every Saturday morning, and has gained a devout following who venture south to sample the latest treats.

Dow and Roberts encouraged folk to come along to Hymhus tomorrow and to ask any questions about the bakehouse, which will be for production only.

It also comes as a new café, offering coffee and food and adjoined by its own roastery, is set to open in Bigton this summer.

Stakkadale Coffee have said they aim to roast their own beans from day one, with hopes that the café will open in July.

Founder Alex Green said that tasting sessions would also be held in the coming weeks.

Stakkadale regularly combines with the Bigton Bakery to sell fresh coffee alongside the latest bakes.
