LIVING Lerwick has presented a cheque for £3,500 to the RNLI Lerwick lifeboat following another successful Santa’s Grotto over Christmas.

The grotto welcomed a total of 460 bairns across two festive weekends after Santa arrived in style to switch on Lerwick’s Christmas lights during the annual parade.

Harry’s Department Store hosted the grotto in December 2025, where a dedicated space was transformed into a festive winter wonderland.

Living Lerwick said Harry’s helped create a “warm, traditional Christmas atmosphere” and made it “even easier for families to visit while enjoying everything the town centre has to offer”.

Volunteers from the Lerwick lifeboat fundraising crew assisted Santa with his duties over the four days of the grotto, helping hand out presents to children.

A decision was made to donate £3,500 to RNLI Lerwick lifeboat as recognition for its “fantastic support”, Living Lerwick said.

Project manager Emma Miller said they were “absolutely delighted” with how wellthe grotto went again this year.

“It’s such an important part of Christmas in Lerwick town centre. We’re incredibly grateful to the Lerwick lifeboat fundraising crew, and of course, Santa, forgiving their time so generously.

“The money raised will support our local lifeboat service, which plays such an important role in our community, including bringing Santa into the parade each year.

“We’d also like to thank Harry’s for hosting the grotto and for their continued support in supplying the hundreds of gifts.”
