Letters / Understands the needs of Shetlanders
As we can see from Hannah Mary’s campaign, she is very much a Shetlander who cares about her community. There’s no doubt that the other candidates care about Shetland too.
However, for Hannah Mary it’s about bringing down ferry fares, fighting to keep the fishing industry going, campaigning for Shetland’s autonomy, and attending a gender-based violence vigil; these are all actions that she has sought to implement on her own initiative because she understands the needs of Shetlanders.
Hannah Mary has chosen to stand as an SNP candidate because she sees value in work that an SNP government has done not just for Scotland but for Shetland too. If Hannah Mary was only concerned about being elected, she would have run as a Lib Dem candidate.
