Transport / Friday night ferries cancelled

Rolling, rolling, rolling. Passengers feared the NorthLink ferry was going to capsize on Wednesday night before the captain regained control of the vessel with 500 passengers on board.

NORTHLINK has confirmed that all sailings to and from Shetland tonight (Friday) have been cancelled due to the windy weather forecast.

This includes both passenger and freight sailings.

Services on Saturday also remain under review, with a “high probability of cancellation”.

Meanwhile the Skerries inter-island service in Shetland has been called off today due to the weather.
